Coming Up-

The Clinton chamber of commerce is holding a Beer & Wine tasting event next Friday, May 10th, 6:30 – 8:30 at the Clinton town hall. Tickets are sold in advance only and can be purchased at Glenwood Wine and Spirits (next door to Stomp N Crush). More info is available on the event website.

The June 13th MASH meeting will be held at Bar in New Haven. We will be tasting our attempts to clone their toasted blonde ale. It’s not too late to take part in this activity and brew this up. Call or email Stomp N Crush for details.

MASH Maniacs -

Here is the recipe for our next club brew activity. This is a clone recipe for Bar’s (New Haven brew bar) Toasted Blonde Ale. The idea is to taste the subtle differences produced from the nuances all of our various equipment and techniques. Special thanks to Bar’s brewmaster, Jeff Browning, for discussing his beers at the April meeting and providing this scaled down recipe.

Anyone wishing to brew it will receive a 15% discount off the ingredients

We will hold the June club meeting at Bar and taste all of our attempts to replicate the blonde!

This is a reminder that Thursday, April 11th is our next meeting  -  7PM @ Stomp N Crush.

The Agenda-

The belma competition was a huge success, congratulations to all the participants especially the winning teams. We will be announcing the next club brew activities, we have two planned that you will not want to miss out on.

We will be ordering shirts with our new logo, if you think you might like to buy one please let us know what size you would want. No commitment, we are only trying to gauge how many of each size to order. Shoot me an email or let me know at the next meeting.

When bringing beer to the meeting please remember to put a label on it with your name and style of beer. More information such as %abv, hops used, IBUs isn’t necessary but feel free to include as much info as you like. No good comes out of tasting a great beer and having no idea who to speak to about it, remember we are gathering to learn from each other.

ATTENTION All MANIACS!

We are pleased to have Paul Hayslett of the Underground Brewers of Connecticut (the YAHOOS) join us @ the July 11th meeting (7PM at the store).

Paul will be here to talk about the Southern New England Regional Homebrew Competition 2012 (SNERHC). The SNERHC is Connecticut’s only BJCP sanctioned competition. Paul will be covering some history of the competition, as well as entry dates, drop off locations and all other competition related information.

All M.A.S.H. members are encouraged to enter.

Competitions are a great way to get feedback on your beer from BJCP certified judges (unless Dave sneaks on the panel). At September’s meeting we will help to classify your beer to be sure it is entered into the proper category for your best chance to win!

We will also be judging member’s porters for the upcoming AHA club only competition, if you have one BRING IT.

M.A.S.H. (Maniacal Association of Shoreline Homebrewers) is Connecticut’s fastest growing homebrew club. Our monthly meetings are designed to be fun and informative, stop by and check it out. All are welcome regardless of brewing experience, if you do have a beer you would like to share please bring it.

Anyone wishing to have their beer tasted by the group please contact me in advance. This is a great opportunity to receive constructive feedback from your peers, the tasting can be anonymous if you prefer.
